Dear Families, A special part of Room 14 & 15 life this year will be “VIP of the Week”. Every week one child from each class will be rostered to be the class “VIP of the Week ”. During that week, the class will participate in special events and activities to help us to get to know our Very Important classmate. Attached to this letter is the roster, so you have plenty of time for your child prepare. If you know that your child will be absent for their week (e.g. family holiday), let us know and we’ll organise a swap. Currently the “VIP of the Week” Board is all about the teachers. Come in and have a look, as it will no doubt give you and your child a few ideas for their turn, and a possibly a laugh as well. We hope you can support this program, as we feel it really benefits the class with creating important social connections with one another as well developing a positive class culture. Daily VIP Activities
MONDAY “VIP”Display Board … please help your child to collect special items from home to decorate the “VIP” display board and shelf (photos, trophies, pictures, small toys, etc). Try and include some family information, favourite foods/colours, pets, music, books, etc. TUESDAY Your child will have a special Morning Talk to share with the class what they have brought along. WEDNESDAY Parent Letter… We would like you to write a short letter (one page) to the class telling us how special your child is to you. The format is really up to you, but you may want to choose one of these ideas: special or funny events in your child’s life, interesting activities your child does outside of school. Send the letter to school with your child, sealed in an envelope and we will read it to the class. THURSDAY Lunch Date… If possible you can to take your child out for a special lunch (12:45pm – 1:45pm). You could even bring them a special treat or visitor. If you can’t make it on a Thursday, let us know and we can swap it to another day. FRIDAY Fun Shirt Friday… A tradition began a couple of years ago when on Fridays Mr Cibich wore a humorous t-shirt and the class really looked forward to seeing what it would be. This year Mr Jupe is giving permission for the weekly VIP to also wear a fun shirt on Friday of their week. T-shirts must suitable for school (no offensive language or images). Leadership Role … During the week the VIP is also the teacher’s assistant and takes on extra responsibilities such as running messages, answering the phone, giving out notices, collecting lunch orders etc.
